Tips and Tricks
During the morning check-in, Visible uses your smartphone’s camera to measure your heartbeat. Here are some tips and tricks to help you measure successfully:
Choosing the right camera
Before the measurement starts, you will see the image from the relevant camera on your phone's screen. If the image is bright red, you are good to go. If the screen shows your surroundings, your finger is on the wrong camera. Try putting your finger on each camera one by one until you see a red circle.
Covering the flash and camera
If possible, cover both your camera lens and flash using your finger. This may take a little bit of trial and error, especially if your phone has multiple cameras. In some phones, particularly newer Google Pixels, the camera is placed far from the flash. In these cases, we may not be able to capture a bright enough image to measure accurately. We are working on improving this, but in the meantime, you can try illuminating your fingertip with an alternative light source such as a lamp or flashlight.
Warming your fingers
If your fingers are too cold, the capillaries in your fingertip may constrict. We recommend warming your fingers before measuring to get the best quality reading.
Staying still
Moving around while measuring reduces the quality of the reading. This is because our algorithm interprets movement as changes in your heartbeat, which can cause confusion. We recommend staying as still as possible while measuring.
Need more help?
We have not been able to test Visible with every device (there are thousands of them!). Therefore, even if you follow the advice above, you may still experience issues. If that happens, you can chat with us here, and we will do our best to help.
