Your data can uncover answers

Over 100 million people are living with complex chronic conditions.

Yet these conditions are overlooked by science and underserved by healthcare, often leaving people without the support they need.

Changing that starts with more and better evidence. Together, we can help build a better understanding of these conditions.

Contribute to research as you track your health

The data you collect with Visible is private by default. If you choose to, you can join more than 25,000 Visible members who are sharing their data with researchers.

Your data is anonymized automatically and shared as you track your health, with nothing extra to do.

You’ll help build a richer picture of what living with complex chronic illness really looks like, supporting researchers as they advance our understanding.

Visible members who have chosen to share anonymized data have supported 12 studies.

data points have been shared anonymously, giving researchers a fuller picture.

Progress starts with measurement. The conditions have long lacked objective ways to understand what’s happening in the body. Biometrics are changing that, giving researchers the evidence to move the field forward faster.

Morning biometrics and symptom prediction

By analysing over 530,000 check-ins from Visible members, we found that daily biometric changes often appear before people report feeling worse. This research supports the approach behind Visible’s Stability Score, helping members make informed decisions about pacing and recovery.

Do symptoms change across the menstrual cycle?

Using data from nearly 1,000 people with Long Covid and ME/CFS, we found that symptoms change significantly across the menstrual cycle. Crashes were more common during menstruation, while people using combined hormonal contraception experienced 45% fewer crashes and reported lower overall symptom severity.

Advancing pacing research

We demonstrated that heart-rate-guided pacing can be studied safely and rigorously using wearable technology. The results provide a foundation for larger clinical trials and future evidence-based approaches to energy management.

Real-world impact for people with complex chronic illness

We surveyed more than 1,300 Visible members and found that 94% reported a better understanding of their energy limits, 85% felt more in control of their condition, and 77% experienced fewer or less severe crashes. These results show how greater visibility into symptoms and exertion can translate into meaningful improvements in daily life.

An Open-Label Feasibility Study of Remdesivir in Long COVID: Results from the ERASE LC Trial

Testing an antiviral treatment for Long Covid

We supported ERASE LC, the UK's first antiviral trial for Long Covid. People with Long Covid received a course of the antiviral remdesivir, and Visible data was one of the ways their symptoms were tracked. 97% completed treatment with no serious side effects, and early measures of fatigue and walking distance improved. Larger, randomised trials are now needed to test whether it works.

Frequently asked questions

Visible hosts selected research studies in the app, each approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB). To see which studies are open, visit the Community section of the Visible app. Each study explains its purpose, what’s involved and what taking part could mean for you. Both free and paid Visible members can take part. If you meet a study’s requirements, you’ll be invited to opt in and share your data anonymously.

Yes. Your privacy is our priority. Your Visible data is stored in an encrypted database and is not shared with third parties unless you opt in to a research study. If you do, your data is anonymized and shared only with the research team, so it cannot be linked back to you.

You can withdraw from a study at any time, immediately ending any future data collection.

No. You do not need a Visible band to take part in research studies with Visible, but you do need the free Visible app. Just download the app for Android or iOS to start understanding your illness and add your experience to research.

Each morning, use your phone camera to measure your heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV) and get a Stability Score. Track your symptoms over time, and join research studies straight from the app.

When you're ready for all-day heart rate monitoring and PacePoints, upgrade to a Visible membership and band.
